From Brisbane to Frisco – How The Aussie Grind Began

Our journey starts here – and it started with a dream…

Before there were flat whites in Frisco or sausage rolls in Farmers Branch, there was just a dream—and two Aussies chasing it.

We’re Angie and Lui Monforte, and The Aussie Grind began with a craving for something familiar. Not just the food and coffee we grew up with, but the whole café vibe—laid-back mornings, good banter, and a place where everyone feels like a regular.

Back in Brisbane, we ran a café where locals became family. But when life threw us a curveball and our lease wasn’t renewed, we had a choice—start over or dream bigger.

So we packed up, moved across the world, and built the kind of spot we’d want to hang out in—where the coffee’s spot-on, the food’s made from scratch, and you’re always greeted with a smile (maybe even a “G’day”).

Texas already had plenty of heart (Southern hospitality is real!), but we wanted to bring a little slice of Aussie café culture to our new home—and share it with you.

That’s where our grind began—and we’re just getting started.
